I'll Buy That For Five Dollars

As is my usual custom of mixing in some good with the bad I was not the least bit surprised to find out that I'd won this last weekend's football for the neighborhood.
In the midst of all the emotional rocketeering from last Sunday I'd taken a few moments to check in on the football games and realized that I was doing pretty well. After the early games had ended and I'd not lost a single pick yet I realized that I had a good chance of winning the whole thing.

And it came down to me and a guy who'd already won two out of the four weeks he'd played. But we'd both taken Philly, I'd just happened to have more points on the game so when Philly thwumped the Giants (boo hoo upstate, uptight M.B.! hehehe) I got to defray some expenses. And nearly the entire season of the football was paid for in one go. Now if I just win a few more times then I'll be all set.

That said, what is up with the San Jose Sharks? They just can't seem to get their game on yet even though their stars are off to a reasonable start. They played well last night against the Red Wings but just couldn't quite get all the pieces to fit properly and they couldn't pull out the win. Oh well, with Nabokov back in goal they should get their game in place soon, I hope.

Lame penalty calls didn't cost them the game but they did cost them any chance of tying it up in the last few minutes of the third period. Damn.
